The world of digital marketing campaigns has never been wider. But with all that competition, how are you possibly supposed to stand out from the crowd?
Tough as it may be, brands are still finding new and noteworthy ways to make an impact through digital activations. And if they can do it, chances are you can too – all you need is a little inspiration to grease those creative gears.
Below, we’ve highlighted five of our favorite digital marketing campaigns from the past week.
SK-II Animated Olympian Series
Just ahead of the 2020 Summer Olympics, Proctor & Gamble’s SK-II skincare line has announced the release of a new animated series, “VS”, featuring six Olympians (superstar Simone Biles among them) battling adversity in the form of aliens, androids and other sci-fi reimaginings. Part of SK-II’s #BeautyIsNo Competition campaign, the series is set to use a combination of gorgeous animation and expert-level storytelling as a rallying cry against beauty standards whilst advertising their line (and the 2020 Olympics, for which SK-II is a sponsor) in the process.
Transforming marketing content into entertainment content, the SK-II campaign is expected to impress both visually and emotionally. Meaningful marketing at it’s finest.
Buffalo Wild Wings Sleepover
Purveyor of chicken wings and avid disciple of sports TV, Buffalo Wild Wings, has announced a new, experiential promotion leading up to the start March Madness. Officially named BnB-Dubbs (a riff off of the fast-casual chain’s nickname, B-Dubs), Buffalo Wild Wings will be transforming their Lincoln Park, Chicago location into an Airbnb-style sleepover during the first 48-hours (32 games) of the college basketball tournament. Using the tagline “You don’t have to go home, and you can stay here”, B-Dubs is asking fans to share a video on Instagram or Twitter using the hashtag #bnbdubscontest for a chance to win 2-days in a once-in-a-lifetime, basketball filled vacation, including bunkbeds, flatscreen TV’s, and, yes, robes.
Creating user-generated content in the process, this new digital marketing campaign from Buffalo Wild Wings leans into the fun of basketball’s biggest month.
Hefty’s Strongest Man
When you think of sustainable products, we highly doubt that garbage bags come to mind. And that’s exactly what Hefty is trying to change in their new multi-channel activation. Using the image of the world’s strongest man Martins Licis pulling an actual plane behind him, Hefty boasts that it has helped convert over 300 tons (i.e. about five planes) of plastics.
Repositioning a plastics product as a sustainable product is certainly a tough sell, but it’s the response to consumer opinion – and the adherence to brand voice (strong bags advertised by the strongest man) – that caught our eye.
International Women’s Day At Fiverr
March 8th is International Women’s Day, and the freelancer platform Fiverr is using the holiday to celebrate women creators. Often criticized for driving down pay and oversaturating the gig economy, Fiverr has set up a women-based digital store to connect buyers with women identifying sellers.
While we are sure to see a number of campaigns that capitalize on International Women’s Day and Women’s History Month, Fiverr’s commitment to creating a campaign that actually supports women financially shows a serious dedication to Equal Pay in the gig economy that freelance workers are sure to pick up on.
Aviation Gin 21st Birthday
Aviation Gin, owned by Ryan Reynolds, celebrated Leap Day by spotlighting 84-year-old Arlene Manko’s 21st birthday. Despite being born in 1936, Arlene was finally, officially of the drinking age on February 29th, 2020. For her birthday, Reynolds got her, well, Aviation Gin.
The social ad is simple and funny, taking advantage of the once-every-four-years holiday in a new way.
